ACUPUNCTURE

What is functional integrated needling (FIN)?

FIN incorporates dry needling techniques to decrease pain, increase range of motion and improve muscle performance.  Unlike traditional acupuncture that follows meridians, this approach involves inserting needles into targeted anatomical structures which are the underlying cause of the musculoskeletal condition being treated.

What should you expect during FIN treatment ?

The treatment protocol will involve the insertion of needles at various angles for the length of a few seconds up to 10 minutes. An average of 5 to 10 needles may be used in a single treatment session, and different techniques may be used to address the condition depending on the chronicity.  All needles are single use only, and have been sterilized before packaging.

How does it work?

The insertion of needles causes controlled micro-injury to the area, resulting in increased blood flow where needed, a decrease in muscle and fascial tension, as well as neuromodulation of the nervous system.

What can it treat ?

Some examples of conditions that can benefit from FIN include the following:

Rotator cuff issues of the shoulder

Tennis elbow

Golfers elbow

Plantar fasciitis

Tenosynovitis of the hand

Tension headaches

TMJ pain

Migraines

Sleep disorders

Anxiety/ Stress disorders

SIJ dysfunction

Metatarsalgia

IT Band syndrome

Osteo-arthritis of the knee

Please talk to your acupuncture provider if you have any specific questions or concerns about FIN treatment.
